Filmmaker Guy Ritchie has quashed rumours his lack of enthusiasm for Madonna's faith played a role the breakdown of their marriage after spending time in a New York Kabbalah centre with the singer and their three kids.

Snatch director Ritchie was the first to arrive at the centre on Saturday (24Jan09), with Madonna and the children joining him shortly afterwards as the family put on a united front.

Ritchie stayed in the building for over an hour, leaving with his son Rocco, eight, and adopted son David Banda, three, while 12-year-old Lourdes - Madonna's daughter from a previous marriage - left later with her mother.

A source tells WENN, "Guy was smiling and in good spirits and seems to still spend time with Madonna as a family. Perhaps he's even still practising Kabbalah."

Last year (08), when Ritchie and Madonna were splitting, the pop star's brother, Christopher Ciccone, blamed Kabbalah for the break-up, and the moviemaker confessed he was puzzled by the faith.

He said, "It's a complicated subject... I don't really understand Kabbalah as a religion or a belief system."

The former couple's divorce was made official earlier this month (Jan09).
