Rock 'n' roll legend JERRY LEE LEWIS divorced his sixth wife KERRIE LYNN McCARVER LEWIS in a Mississippi court yesterday (15JUN05).

The GREAT BALLS OF FIRE singer, 69, and his wife of 21 years came to a divorce settlement on Wednesday - the same day they were due to go to trial over their assets.

As he left the Hernando courthouse, Lewis enthused, "It's been a long day and it's been an expensive day."

Local newspaper THE COMMERCIAL APPEAL claims 42-year-old McCarver Lewis will receive a $250,000 (GBP130,000) payment immediately, followed by $30,000 (GBP15,800) a year until 2010.

Lewis will also pay $20,000 (GBP10,500) to their 18-year-old son JERRY LEE LEWIS III for the next four years (ends09).

The star has managed to keep the couple's 40 acre ranch in Nesbit, north Mississippi.

Lewis says, "Sure, I plan to live there. It's been my home for about the past 40 years. That's where I'm going to be."

Before reaching the settlement, both Lewis and McCarver Lewis accused the other of adultery.
