RYAN REYNOLDS jokingly berated U.S. TV host Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night (18Jun09) for "humiliating" veteran actress Betty White when the comedian beat her at a game of beer pong on his show last week (ends12Jun09).

The former Golden Girls star recently appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and stunned TV audiences when she took part in a friendly challenge of the popular college pastime.

White, 87, lost the match and had to guzzle down glasses of beer as part of the forfeit - and Reynolds was not impressed with Fallon for making his The Proposal co-star go through with the punishment.

The actor told Fallon, "I heard all about that... beer pong (match)... You get off on humiliating 87-year-old national treasures?", before light-heartedly describing how The Game had sent White on a drinking binge.

He said, "I have a question for you, Jimmy - the woman hasn't been the same since. After she left your show, do you know what happened to her? She's gone on a bender in Tijuana and God knows what's happened to her. She's alone, scared, cold, probably got involved in a drug cartel."

Reynolds, husband to Scarlett Johansson, then insisted on defending White's honour: "I'm gonna avenge Betty White and I'm gonna beat you and kick your a** now at beer shuffleboard."

The Hollywood star won The Game - where players have to try and push pucks along the ground to land on a scoring grid - and Fallon was forced to down the remaining beer left over from his beer pong game with White.
